I really don't rank my favorite albums of the year, but if I did, The Orwells Disgraceland would be #1: it's the perfect blend of DIY attitude and good ol' fashioned hormone-fueled rock. It wasn't an easy choice, however: First Aid Kit Stay Gold is just so God damn beautiful and haunting, and The Ting Tings Super Critical is like the more-raw, less-restrained response to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories (which was a top record last year).
